Our services: practical and efficient

Bath Wills offers a professional and reliable will writing service by an ex-solicitor. My aim is to ensure that your will reflects your wishes, safeguards your estate and enables as much of your estate as possible to pass to your beneficiaries. I operate in the Bath area, though now I can offer my services remotely I can accept clients from anywhere in the world.  I am insured for £2m by Towergate Syndicate.

I begin with an initial no commitment phonecall. If you decide to proceed, I then take your detailed instructions either in person or via zoom, whatever is easier for you.  I will then draw up a draft will for your review and make any necessary amendments, supporting you at each step of the process. Once you have confirmed you are happy with the draft if you are local you are welcome to visit my home office (close to the Royal United Hospital in Bath) so I can witness the will for you. Alternatively I can send you the documents with instructions for you to execute the will yourself. You then send the will back to me for checking.

I aim for complete transparency in terms of costs. All my work is done on a fixed fee basis. In most cases where the estate is straightforward my fees are from £250 for a single will or £295 for mirror wills for a couple. If you would like a life interest trust will (which protects your share of your estate in the event of a spouse or partner's remarriage) the fee is £380-£420. Where the estate is complex (for example if you own a business or are in a blended family or if there are vulnerable beneficiaries) and requires more extensive work I may need to increase the fee but would tell you this at the outset, so you can choose on which basis to proceed. I now have to charge VAT on my fees.

As an individual I do not store wills personally but have an arrangement with a solicitors' firm in central Bath who store my wills for free. Alternatively I can facilitate the storage of your will by the Probate Registry. This is a government run not for profit will storage service which costs £25 per will (that is all you pay, no annual charges or retrieval fees).
